Victoria's Opposition is continuing to mount pressure on the State Government over its handling of COVID-19, calling for a royal commission into the state's pandemic response.

Of the 716 deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Victoria, the vast majority are linked to aged care — a Commonwealth responsibility. "We've spent $1.5 billion and we have 500 deaths. To me, we need to understand why we have so many deaths. Where did that money go?" he said on Thursday.But Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt said in response that the current royal commission into aged care was enough.
