Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has stood by the evidence she gave to a parliamentary hearing about the Commonwealth Games despite knowing of budget pressures.

Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan has denied misleading parliament when she said that “tremendous progress” was being made to hosting theAn upper house inquiry into the cancelled Games on Monday revealed that, nearly double the original budget of $2.6 billion.

But Ms Allan on Tuesday said she stood by her evidence on June 13 and denied misleading parliament, arguing she could only answer questions that were asked.“Let’s be clear in the time sequence here — advice was being received by government. Budgets get updated decisions get announced when decisions are made,” Ms Allan said.“When you’re given advice, you need to consider all range of options around the advice. That is proper government decision-making processes.

“Jacinta Allan needs to answer and refute the evidence mounting against her which suggests she knew a lot more than she was letting on and that she actively and deliberately deceived people around her.”The Liberal leader spent the majority of his salvos in question time last week accusing Ms Allan of misleading parliament and Victorians.Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions secretary
