Victorians are being advised to stay safe this week as extreme temperatures are predicted to scorch the state.
Temperatures are tipped to climb to 39 degrees in Melbourne on Wednesday and 41 degrees on Friday.
Towns north of Melbourne such as Mildura will face their hottest December day on record if temperatures rise to the forecast maximum of 47 degrees. Emergency services are bracing for more bushfires with severe-to-high fire danger forecast.
