"Seriously there's a lot of people out there who do great things, but don't have a lot of money. They're doing great things around their own community and why they continue to give politicians awards is beyond me.
"I thank the Victorian community for their support for me and my team in leading our state for nine years. That remains the greatest honour of my life." Former Western Australian premier Mark McGowan was also made a Companion of the Order of Australia "for eminent service to the people and Parliament of Western Australia, to public health and education, and to international trade relations".
