Half of Victorians remain undecided about Deputy Premier Jacinta Allan, who political experts expect to become premier if Daniel Andrews wins a third term on Saturday.

. Ms Allan represents Bendigo East and was elected in 1999 when Steve Bracks swept to power after Jeff Kennett lost the “unlosable” election amid criticism of, among other things, ignoring the regions. She is Minister for Transport Infrastructure and the Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop.

But he warned there were already “rumblings on the right” and she needed to show that she would reset the culture after Mr Andrews’ reign, rather than deliver more of the same. “She massively wastefully redesigned Metro Tunnel stations in her own office after construction had commenced and told Victorians before the 2018 election that all stages of Labor’s proposed Suburban Rail Loop would be constructed for $50 billion.

They followed the earlier exits of planning minister Richard Wynne, Gavin Jennings and Jill Hennessy, and the forced exits of health minister Jenny Mikakos, Adem Somyurek and Marlene Kairouz. “I’ll never forget my younger brother and I being bundled into the back of the grey Ford, no older than six or seven, for our yearly holiday – the Gold Coast, maybe Sovereign Hill? No, it was a very exciting and very exotic tour of the Hazelwood power station,” she said.Ms Allan then rallied her “comrades” over Labor’s plan to bring back the State Electricity Commission after the Liberals privatised it during the 1990s.
