Sue, of just down the road in Skelmersdale tells us that all the pet toys are made from recycled or upcycled materials, and that she's seen ‘huge interest’ in all things canine. She told us: “Everything is handmade by ourselves and 99% of materials are recycled - we go to charity shops and we use clothes and blankets.
The village is a hub of cultural and community activity at most times, with arts and crafts, sports, yoga, ramblers, youth groups and music, to name but a few. The village hall doubles as a cinema, while there are also independent shops, eateries, pubs and a Women’s Institute.
A similarly festive theme is on show at West Lancashire Creations, where husband and wife duo Michelle and Luke Parker, an engineer, are proudly displaying their sleekly lasered Christmas tree decorations, begun only three weeks ago. “We grow our own flowers, dry them, from our own flower field and make them into wreaths. We do courses, with ceramics, floristry and glass and we’ve met some lovely people today - we like coming to Parbold.”
