Alexander Sorloth’s four goals inspired Villarreal to battle back from behind to earn a 4-4 draw at home to La Liga champions Real Madrid.
But former Crystal Palace striker Sorloth, who scored his side’s first goal before the break, added three more in the first 11 minutes of the second half to help Villareal earn a point. Real took the lead in the 14th minute when Guler finished off a well-worked move, with ex-Stoke City forward Joselu heading across goal at the end of Vazquez’s cross to double Real’s lead on the half hour mark.
In the hopes of salvaging something against Carlo Ancelotti’s side Villarreal boss Marcelino Garcia Toral made a triple substitution at the break, bringing on the experienced trio of Francis Coquelin, Raul Albion and Bertrand Traore.
