Formula 1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve believes he “got lucky” when the brakes failed on his Vanwall Le Mans Hypercar in last weekend’s Portimao round of the World Endurance Championship.Villeneuve expressed relief that the failure of the front-right disc on the Vanwall-Gibson Vandervell 680 with just over an hour of the race to go happened at Turn 10.
