In 2022, resale app Vinted was ranked number three among the top apps within Apple’s App Store. Over the last 12 months, its community increased by more than 20 million and over 800 million items were listed. Meanwhile, a plethora of fashion brands – think Gucci, Selfridges and Ganni – have been launching their own in-house resale platforms to compete with the more established multi-brand sites.It’s fair to say that party season hasn’t had the best rep when it comes to sustainable credentials.

Firstly, make sure you try pieces on before purchase, or if shopping online, meticulously check the measurements , as sizing from different decades can vary massively. If in doubt, size up, as you can always get things tailored. Secondly, just because something is second-hand, doesn’t mean you should compromise on quality – always check fabric composition and keep an eye out for faults.
