Virgin Australia boss Jayne Hrdlicka is warning passengers that busy airports are here to stay.

Ms Hrdlicka said airlines could still meet the renewed demand, adding: “The industry is just shaking off the cobwebs.

The chief executive was in Sydney to launch “Virgin Beyond” – a rebranded version of what was once called “The Club” and the airline’s equivalent of Qantas’ “Chairmans Lounge” areas. “This is a commercial undertaking, It is not just something we want to do because it’s nice,” Ms Hrdlicka said. “It is designed to serve people who are incredibly valuable to our organisation, and it is a thank you to people who have been incredibly loyal to us through tough times and great times.”The Virgin Beyond lounges are in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne behind unmarked doors and include a la carte food offerings and private booths for those invited.
