The assault occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the 21-year-old Melbourne woman was separated from the rest of her crew during a night out in Martintar, a popular entertainment district in Nadi. Fiji’s Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew has confirmed the suspect, who is a local, was questioned and charged on Saturday and will face court on Monday. Police are also investigating a second incident that occurred on the same evening, in which a fellow Virgin crew member suffered facial injuries after being robbed. Virgin Australia previously said they are aware of the incidents and have sent staff to provide support to those affected.The head of the Flight Attendants Association of Australia, Terry O'Toole, said the incidents were “very concerning” Fiji's Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Villiame Gavoka said the incidents highlighted the need to to strengthen security for tourists
