Aberdeen physics student Anastatia Mayers, 18, was joined by her 46-year-old mother, Keisha Schahaff, on the VSS Unity for the 90-minute trip.
Virgin Galactic’s first space tourism flight has successfully blasted off this afternoon - with a Scots university student onboard.
The two women will be the first mother and daughter to make a trip to space after winning a coveted place in a prize draw.The rocket took off from a launch site in New Mexico just before 8.30am local time in the mothership VMS Eve.
