The Vodafone spokesperson said of the 30,000 customers affected by the error, about half had so far been resolved.
"I'm only a casual contractor with my position. Where I work is closing down between Christmas and New Year," he said.Mr Power said Vodafone only alerted him to the error with a text message after the money had been taken from his account. Another customer, Sarah, warned that the company's actions could leave many in financial dire straits this Christmas.
