Former Labor senator Stephen Conroy has dismissed claims that the failure of the Voice to Parliament referendum will be Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Labor Party’s downfall.

“Both Bob Hawke and John Howard lost referenda, and both of them went on to win multiple elections,” Mr Conroy told Sky News Australia. Mr Conroy dismissed speculation that the Voice referendum defeat is the “end of the world” for the Prime Minister. “Even though Peter Dutton likes to privately think he’s won a battle, I suspect he did more to lose the next war of the election,” he said.

Mr Conroy sat down with Sky News Australia to discuss the Labor Party, Mr Albanese and the Israel-Hamas war.
