Indigenous leaders expect to take six months of consultations to sort the modelling for an advisory body on the Voice to Parliament, should Australia vote yes on the referendum.

Some questions about the Voice will not be confirmed until the government and indigenous communities complete a “process of dialogue” that will stretch into mid-next year.

The proposal would then go to a parliamentary committee before legislation establishing the Voice is proposed, where it might not be operational until after the next federal election.
