It's certainly quietened down at voting centres in Bega on the NSW far south coast, but campaigners are anticipating a last minute rush. 'No' campaign volunteer Pete Ashmore said there's been an equal amount of yes and no voters entering the polling centre at the Bega High School polling centre today. But he's firm in in decision. 'It's dividing people and I don't like that,' Mr Ashmore said.
They're Australians, they can vote, they have representation.' 'Yes' campaign volunteer at the Bega Primary School polling centre Peter Haggar said today's referendum is a defining moment, no matter the outcome. 'Whatever happens, we've started a conversation today, and we have to continue this,' he said. 'We need truth telling, we need justice for our First Nations people, and it starts today, whatever the result.
