What a poll of the national opinion polls on the Indigenous voice referendum tells us – and how support or opposition in Australia is changing over time

The voice to parliament vote will be the first referendum in Australia since 1999, with Australians asked to vote on the following question:

This first chart records the outcomes of opinion polls on the voice and averages the support over time to track the progress of the yes and no campaigns.Support for the voice to parliament over time *Notes: Undecided voters have been removed from polls to give a forced yes/no response. The trendline is generated by a generalized additive model fit to the data. Theis a 95% confidence interval - a range that we are 95% certain contains the estimated population yes vote, however there is an unknown amount of variation due to differences in polling questions and methods both within and between polling companies. The model uses poll sample sizes to weight the estimates.
