Alexander Volkanovski will be a surprise cornerman for Colby Thicknesse at UFC 312, as Thicknesse faces off against Aleksandre Topuria, brother of UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.\Thicknesse was called up on 14 days notice to replace Cody Haddon, and will make his UFC debut against a tough opponent. Volkanovski, who was initially rumored to fight Ilia Topuria on this card, will now be watching Thicknesse from the corner.

Unsurprisingly, the new champ had little interest rematching ‘The Great’ in his own backyard – and just over three months after beating Max Holloway – and will instead look set to defend in April.Earlier this week however, UFC middleweight Bo Nickal leaked on his UFC channel that the two stars will headline UFC 314 in April.
