Commentator Liz Storer says it’s “sad” that Australians aren’t gathering around elderly and ill people and saying “we’re going to make every minute of your life worthwhile until you reach a natural death”.

“Assisted suicide is tragic its absolutely remarkable that as a society we poor millions and millions of dollars every year into a worthy cause of suicide prevention,” Ms Storer told Sky News host Caleb Bond.

“Yet somehow we’ve reached a point that as a society there’s now a category of people that were happy to look in the eyes and say well in your case we agree your life’s not worth living.Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
