The volunteer firefighter has been sentenced for deliberately lighting 10 grass fires in July and August last year.

In May, Jack Hardidge , 19, pleaded guilty to eight offences of intentionally causing fire and being reckless as to its spread.

He pleaded guilty with the condition that a further four counts of the same charge would be taken into account on sentence. Cessnock Local Court previously heard Hardidge deliberately lit grassfires at Weston, Pelaw Main, Bellbird, Greta, Aberglasslyn, Melville and Cessnock in July and August last year.Detectives from Strike Force Glenarvon said they had investigated several suspicious bushfires in the region, some of which Mr Hardidge had fought to contain, before arresting him.
