New research by the University of Nottingham in collaboration with Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking volunteers 18 years and older to participate in a study looking into the food and nutritional security of Nottinghamshire residents.
What is food and nutritional security The study's aim is to understand the percentage of adults in Nottinghamshire’s population who are food secure and food insecure. A person is food secure when they have sufficient money to buy enough food to for an active and healthy life. Food insecurity in the UK was prevalent before the Covid-19 pandemic and continues to increase, recent data suggested 9.7 million adults, one in four households with children and 16% of household without children had experienced food insecurity in September 2022.
The study Researchers are looking for 1,000 volunteers aged 18 years and over who are living in Nottinghamshire to take part in the first stage of study, and 200 people from the first stage of the study to take part in the second stage of the study which is looking into more detail about the types of food included in the diet.
