Western Australia's coronavirus cluster linked to an infected French backpacker has increased again on New Year's Day.
WA Health on Saturday announced the two infections are close contacts of a recent case and are in hotel quarantine.
Contact tracers begun to interview the COVID-positive cases overnight. It is expected additional exposure sites will be named.There are now 16 COVID-19 cases linked to the Western Australia's latest outbreak, which emerged after an infected French backpacker brought the virus into the state.There are 1,781 casual contacts, with 234 of those yet to come forward for a PCR swab.
"WA Health's contact tracing team is working to identify and follow up contacts and confirm exposure sites," a statement read.
