WA Premier Mark McGowan tests positive for COVID-19 | hamishhastie

The premier entered isolation on Thursday after a family member contracted the virus, and in a statement on Friday morning said a PCR test had confirmed he now also had it.“In accordance with the protocols, this will extend my quarantine period until I am hopefully cleared to leave home next Thursday afternoon, at the earliest,” he said.WA recorded 8777 coronavirus cases overnight.

There were 258 people with COVID-19 in hospital and nine in ICU. Five historical deaths were also recorded including a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s.he had contracted COVID-19, throwing a spanner into his election campaign.In a Facebook comment, McGowan wished Albanese a “quick recovery” and said he would see him in WA soon.Labor senator Penny Wong is continuing the party’s campaign in WA instead, starting with a press conference on Friday.
