Western Australia boasts the strongest economy in the country according to a recent report but, while the state government is celebrating the accolade, experts say the rewards are not necessarily being felt by those doing it tough.
The CommSec State of the States report, released on Monday, tracked economic performance across the country using eight key indicators.
But in a cost-of-living crisis, what does this report mean for those living and contributing to the nation's strongest economy?Tips and tricks to save money Michael Dockery, principal research fellow at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre, said the report did not necessarily suggest everyday Western Australians had extra cash to spare.
"I'm not sure that's necessarily going to translate into growing real incomes and prosperity for Western Australians."Unemployment across the state was at 3.7 per cent in September, almost 30 per cent lower than the decade average. In its state budget submission, the WA Council of Social Service said population growth and rising living costs had driven unprecedented levels of need across the sector.
