West Australian Premier Roger Cook is pleading for drivers to do everything they can to keep themselves and others safe after seven fatalities on state roads this weekend.
Police say a woman in her 50s was killed at Nippering when her car collided with a truck on Saturday.It takes the number of people that have died on WA roads this year to 173, the state's highest road toll since 2016, which was 176."There are a lot of families that won't be celebrating with one of their friends, one of their family members this Christmas.
A woman aged in her 50s also died in the Wheatbelt after her car collided with a truck on the Wagin-Dumbleyung Road in Nippering at about 11:40am on Saturday, causing both vehicles to roll.In the south of the state, a driver believed to be in his 30s was killed after his car rolled and caught fire on Saturday morning on Mercer Road in Lange, north of Albany.
"We're three weeks out from Christmas and I suspect, unfortunately, more people will be going through this suffering," he said. The road toll rose again on Sunday afternoon after a fatal motorcycle crash near the intersection of Pile Road and Henty Road, south-east of Bunbury.
