American actor Chadwick Boseman has died of cancer, aged 42.

He passed away at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by his wife and family. He was diagnosed with colon cancer four years ago.

Boseman brought the first black Marvel superhero to life in the film Black Panther as well as starring in other Marvel box office hit Captain America and Avengers films. Marvel Studios sent their condolences to Boseman's family. Image: AP
