Wallaby Tupou delivers baby news to shocked coach Rennie via text | tomdecent
The story leading up to the birth of Taniela Tupou’s first child last Friday is a beauty.
“It happened at a perfect time,” Tupou said. “I got a call at 2am in the morning on Friday morning. She [my partner] was like, ‘you’ve got to come now’. [The hospital] was two and a half hours away. I said ‘it’s 2am in the morning, can I come at 6am?’ She was like, ‘no, you have to come now’.Tupou, affectionately known as ‘Nela’, and his partner Molly were thrilled to welcome their baby boy into the world. The baby’s name? Nela.
Tupou hasn’t played rugby in almost nine weeks after picking up a calf injury in Super Rugby. On Thursday, he made the frank admission he didn’t miss his time away from the game. “I didn’t even notice it,” Porecki said. “I must’ve been so focused on my lineout that it didn’t even come into play. A couple of people after the game asked me about [Itoje’s tactics in the first lineout]. But it wasn’t until I actually reviewed the game that I saw what they were talking about and what he was doing.”Australia A could be set for more matches later in the year, with RA looking into whether more fixtures can be squeezed into the calendar.
