‘WAGs get more than us’: Rugby storm erupts as NRL star’s $5m deal called out
Furious Wallaroos players have unleashed on Rugby Australia, accusing the body of spending more money on the Wallabies’ wives and girlfriends than the national women’s team.
“You told us full-time contracts were in the pipeline, that there wasn’t enough money to keep the men in the game, let alone us. Then you paid $5 million for an NRL player. Wallaroos star Sera Naiqama, whose brothers Wes and Kevin have both played in the NRL, took to Instagram to call out Rugby Australia over the VIP treatment of Wallabies WAGs.
“No disrespect to the girls in the video at all, they’re just living it up, as they should, how awesome is it to be able to support partners? But yet last year when the girls were off to the World Cup, they weren’t offered the same,” Naiqama wrote. “Our flights were paid for by World Rugby, all Rugby Australia had to do was pay the cost in between to upgrade us, but didn’t even think we were worth that,” she claimed.Sera Naiqama accused Rugby Australia of treating Wallabies WAGs like VIPs.
