Walmart's announcement to expand its EV fast charger network at thousands of Walmart and Sam's Club locations nationwide by 2023 follows the footsteps of 7-Eleven, Subway and other retail and fast-food chains.
Tom “Smitty” Smith, executive director of the Texas Electric Transportation Resources Alliance, said large retail businesses like Walmart could play a crucial role in further shifting the mindset of Texans toward electric cars. While details about the new initiative are still being finalized, Smith said it could potentially drive down the overall price of public charging.
