MotoGP: Pedro Acosta sits down with Fox Motorsport host Jess Yates and goes through his stellar start to his MotoGP career,
Pedro Acosta is still a teenager – the Spanish sensation doesn’t turn 20 until the Saturday of this weekend’s Grand Prix of Catalunya – but he’s already learned enough in three seasons in the world championship to not get too ahead of himself with his trailblazing achievements, even if the rest of the MotoGP paddock can’t restrain themselves.
Acosta took just three races before leading in MotoGP for the first time, in Texas en route to finishing second. Acosta made immediate waves when he stormed Moto3 as a 16-year-old – he remarkably won after a pit-lane start in Doha in just his second Grand Prix in 2021 – but says his early Moto2 struggles the following season have shaped how he’s approached his MotoGP debut year.
“The problem arrived more in Moto2, I was flying a bit and it was not easy for the first races. I didn’t really understand what’s happening in myself. Now I understand I need this time, to use the learning process to be better in the future.
