Relief is in sight for residents of Australia’s east coast who have battled through frosty mornings and bitterly cold nights, with slightly warmer temperatures forecast for this week.

Sydney is expected to reach a top of 20C on three days this week, while Brisbane locals can look forward to temperatures as high as 23C heading into the weekend. “With fronts hitting the west and Tasmania, much of the country will see a northwesterly airstream through the week,” Sky News Australia Meteorologist Rob Sharpe said.
