Australia's preparations for the Boxing Day Test have been rocked after David Warner suffered a hand injury in a net session at the MCG.After being hit, the veteran opener threw off his glove and was attended to by team doctor Richard Saw before emerging from the change rooms once again.
Upon his return, Warner took light throw downs from bowling coach Troy Cooley in the indoor nets, but struggled to hold onto the bat as he complained of a sore thumb. While Warner eventually returned to the nets to bat with opening partner Joe Burns, the opener displayed signs of discomfort and will be monitored in the lead-up to Thursday's second Test.
After struggling in the Ashes earlier in the year, Warner has been in sparkling form so far in Australia's home Tests against Pakistan, reaching the triple-figure mark in both Tests, including a career-best 335 not out in Adelaide. If Warner is unable to partake in Thursday's Test, his replacements are likely to be one of Marcus Harris or Cameron Bancroft.
