Two people who had travelled through Melbourne and stayed in hotel quarantine before returning to New South Wales and the Northern Territory have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
There has been a spike of COVID-19 cases across Melbourne, with people getting tested across suburbs in lockdown. "I think the other point to make is we have to be really cautious in terms of how we move forward with the easing of restrictions and we have to be that from an economic point of view, because we want to make sure this is process we only go through once," Richard Marles"We need to be very careful around Australia in terms of how we ease restrictions because this is easily flair up and that is what we are seeing in Victoria.
A judicial inquiry is underway to examine how the situation in Victoria escalated, with 77 people diagnosed yesterday, and calls are mounting for the Victorian Health Minister Jenny Mikakos to step down.
