Authorities have sounded the alarm about a text message scam preying on Optus customers hoping for compensation for yesterday's 13-hour network outage.
The National Anti-Scam Centre, or Scamwatch, has posted an image of the scam in which a text, pretending to be from
, encourages recipients to click on a link where they can purporting apply for compensation from the telco.Scamwatch has shared an image of the scam doing the rounds following yesterday's Optus network outage. Scamwatch warned against clicking on the link, telling anyone who receives it to ignore and delete the message."There's no compensation on offer. Don't click the link. Ignore and delete.
