A return to the past could be on the cards without changes
A Salford councillor has warned 'slum clearances' could return to the city unless older homes are improved.
Mr Dennett has pledged to build hundreds of new council homes to try to tackle the problem - but he said upgrading the city's housing stock is one of the biggest challenges facing the town hall. He said: "When I first got on the council, we had money for a slum clearance. On the housing committee at the time we were always discussing pre-19 houses, which we've got many in the city.
Salford council has committed to being carbon neutral by 2038, and has a five-year which includes improving homes, workplaces and public buildings.
