UNSW Civil and Environmental Engineer Stuart Khan says the conversation surrounding the releasing of water from Warragamba Dam should have happened four years ago.
“I have been quoted in the media ten years ago talking about why we should be doing this, and we haven’t had that conversation,” Mr Khan told Sky News Australia.
“There is a period of time that needs to take place between deciding that this is a realistic option and actually moving ahead with it.
