The Warumpi Band's music is reaching a new generation through the musical Big Name, No Blankets, which has arrived in the NT's Top End.

A musical about legendary Northern Territory group the Warumpi Band is being in the staged at the upcoming Darwin Festival .Musical co-director Rachael Maza says the crew is also preparing to take the musical out to the territory's remote communities.

A stage musical telling the story of the Warumpi Band is being performed in the territory for the first time as part of the opening celebrations for the 2024 Darwin Festival. Yolŋu actor Baykali Ganambarr hails from Elcho Island, the same island in Arnhem Land where Warumpi Band singer George Burarrwanga would spear fish with his family."And not just knowing them just as an artist, but also knowing them as family.
