The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman report comes after years of campaigning and legal challenges
A long-awaited report into State Pension age changes for women born in the 1950s is expected to be published later today . Following a 67-month investigation, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman will issue it's final report following tireless campaigning from WASPI women who saw their retirement age aligned with that of men.
The ombudsman has been investigating the issue for five years with the first stage, published in 2021, saying the Government was slow in informing women how they would be affected by the change. The next part of the report could make recommendations on compensation with an All Party Parliamentary Group saying compensation at Level 6 on the PHSO scale – that is, £10,000 or more – should be awarded to WASPI women.
Commenting on news that the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman will today publish his long-awaited Stage 2 and Stage 3 reports on DWP’s maladministration of State Pension age changes, Chair of the WASPI campaign, Angela Madden said: However, whatever happens, this 67 month long investigation can no longer be used by ministers or opposition figures as a political shield. WASPI women are sick to the back teeth of hearing ‘we cannot comment while the PHSO investigation continues’.
The WASPI Campaign is fighting for justice for all women born in the 1950s affected by the changes to the State Pension Age . It stands for Women Against State Pension Inequality.
