‘Do we need another TV drama to embarrass them?’ says senior SNP MP, as Cabinet minister asks for more time to consider official report

may need a television drama to “shame” the Department of Work and Pensions into compensation, a senior MP has suggested.

The Cabinet minister refused to commit to any compensation – or offer any apology – as he set out the Government’s response to last week’s damning report by the official watchdog. Ms Gibson, the SNP’s Attorney General spokesperson, said Waspi women had been “abandoned and betrayed by the Government and the future Labour government”.

Angela Madden, Waspi campaign chair, said: “The secretary of state now says this matter is so complex, he needs yet more months and years of head scratching to sort it out.The 70-year-old campaigner added: “The report is not complicated at all. The Commons must get a debate and vote on compensation as soon as possible after Easter.”
