President Joe Biden has called for Donald Trump to be locked up before quickly realising his politically damaging blunder in an awkward gaffe which is making headlines across the United States.
US President Joe Biden says 'we gotta lock him up' in reference to Donald Trump as Democrats continue US election campaign
"I know this sounds bizarre. It sounds like I said this five years ago you'd lock me up. We gotta lock him up," Biden said to the crowd who applauded and cheered.He appeared to realise his mistake and quickly clarified the remark.The President also told supporters the 2024 US election is one of the most important in the country's history as"democracy is at stake".
Citing"a person" close to Biden, The New York Post said the President reiterating his remark showed he did not mean to say Trump should be imprisoned.
