David Platt has been unmasked as the getaway phone thief and has been jailed
CCTV footage has shown the moment a callous thief on a bike swiped mobile phones out of the hands of innocent victims across Manchester.
Three days later on June 19, another victim, a woman in her 20s, was on a video call to her friend as she walked along Upper Brook Street in the city centre. Platt then cycled past her and swiped her mobile phone. Greater Manchester Police have now shared footage of the thefts as they issued a warning, urging people to keep their mobile phones out of sight and being aware of surroundings.
“We want to ensure we are equipping the public with the right crime prevention advice to be able to reduce their chances of becoming a victim.
