Showtime has shared the first five minutes of its new show, The Man Who Fell to Earth. The series, starring Golden Globe winner Chiwetel Ejiofor, was developed by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet. Based on Walter Tevis’ 1963 novel by the same name, the sci-fi project marks the second adaptation of the source material after David Bowie’s classic 1976 film, directed by Nicolas Roeg.
Now, Showtime has released a promising five-minute glimpse at its upcoming sci-fi show. Demonstrating a stunning array of special effects, Ejiofor makes his debut as the extra-terrestrial, plummeting through the galaxy to plunge through Earth’s atmosphere. As he emerges from the molten crater his impact has created, viewers bear witness to his body’s transformation into something more human.
