Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the decision was made so her residents could continue enjoying their freedoms and to slow transmission in the community.
"This is a small price to pay for freedoms," she said during a press conference to mark the major milestone at the Cross River Rail. "Strong health responses mean our economy has recovered but we know that with the borders opening we are going to see cases in Queensland."Face coverings will need to be worn across settings including retail, supermarkets, public transport, and hospitals and aged care.Ms Palaszczuk stressed the importance for residents to roll up their sleeves for a coronavirus vaccine and booster shot.
