Trump’s victory became clear after American broadcaster Fox News called the key swing state of Pennsylvania and its 19 electoral college votes for the Republican. Her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, instead fronted the crowd of democratic volunteers and supporters at Howard University – a historic black campus in Washington DC – to hamper hopes Harris would appear.
