Earlier in the day, Biden, alongside Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, announced reforms to protect consumers when there are flight delays or cancellations, following a disastrous holiday season plagued with mass cancellations out of Southwest Airlines.Under the new policy, airlines would be required to compensate travelers for delays or cancellations that were within an airline company's control.
It will set out parameters for refunds and other accommodations to passengers, such as meals and hotel expenses, according to a preview from the White House.
