Originally from Burundi, her parents had left amid conflict in the 1970s for the Congo, where Esther was born some years later. When civil war broke out there they made their way to Australia.
As healthcare workers, the pair said they bought a ticket because they simply wanted to give back to the medical research charity. The couple was moved to tears as they entered their new $3 million, four-bedroom home on the waterfront in Adelaide.“I still can’t believe it ... why us?... I feel like I do not deserve this.” an emotional Esther said on Sunrise on Friday morning.Aristide, Esther, and their three-year-old daughter Tiffany can move into the home in two-and-a-half weeks - just in time for the birth of their baby boy, due in August.
