It wasn't any normal video. UTSA drove to the Texas campus to produce the video that is meant to hype Roadrunners fans ahead of the game against No. 21 Texas . The video shows a UTSA player wearing the official uniform for Saturday's game in front of several UT camp icons like the UT Tower and Darrell K. Royal Stadium. The player is wearing a white jersey with blue numbering and blue pants, as well as a blue helmet with the team's logo and signature 210 mark on one side.
The player makes a number of boastful gestures around the university's campus, including spinning a football in front of UT's famous bell tower. The video ends with the player flashing UTSA's"Birds Up" hand gesture in front of the stadium. It is unclear why UTSA produced the video on the Texas campus or if UT officials knew that it would be filmed there. Kyle Stephens, a spokesman for the UTSA football team, was only able to offer that the reveal videos have happened every week for several seasons.The video has more than 200,000 views on Twitter and has led to some trash talking among fans.
UTSA's viral jersey reveal quickly devolved into online trash talk between the fanbases of the two teams. "Y’all really trying to get all the smoke? We’ll fire up the grill for y’all," one Longhorns fan replied to the video.UTSA enter the game at 1-1 and is coming off a dramatic win over Army last weekend. Texas suffered a 20-19 loss to No. 2 Alabama. The Texas-UTSA game starts at 7 p.m.
