A water main break at Grove Street and Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2023, three blocks from City Hall and the site of a water main break on Sept. 29, 2023.Downtown Jersey City is dealing with its second water main break in a week after a main ruptured early Thursday morning at Grove Street and Christopher Columbus Drive.
The water main break occurred just three blocks from a similar incident last Friday at Grove and Montgomery streets that closed City Hall. Veolia Water is on the scene working on isolating the main and making repairs. Officials did not provide an estimated time when the repairs would be completed, or a number of customers affected by the break.
