Agriculture Minister Murray Watt has announced the government will provide a further $10 million to Indonesia in an effort to combat foot and mouth disease.
The highly contagious viral disease which is found in livestock and causes a rash or blisters to form on hands, feet and around the mouth has been reported in countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia and South America.
“I'm pleased to announce today that the Albanese Government will provide an additional $10 million in biosecurity funding to Indonesia,” he told the National Press Club on Tuesday.
