'I'm excited. I can't wait. This team is super-special and I can't wait to show the world what the Matildas are all about.'
Emily van Egmond will join San Diego Wave teammates Alex Morgan and Naomi Girma and others at the Women’s World Cup this summer.
Van Egmond told the Wave’s website that it’s “so special” and “a little bit surreal” to play in this year’s World Cup, which is being hosted by Australia and New Zealand. Matches begin July 20.“I’m excited. I can’t wait,” she said. “This team is super-special, and I can’t wait to show the world what the Matlidas are all about.”
As many as five Wave players are expected to take part in the World Cup, which will be played for a month in Australia and New Zealand, wrapping on Aug. 20.
